Birds

Exotic birds can suffer from a wide array of behaviour problems ranging from aggression towards human family members or other birds, to full blown anxieties and phobias. These issues can have a variety of causes, e.g. imprinting, handling issues, and are often accompanied by physical symptoms, e.g. pulling out feathers and self-mutilation, excessive vocalisation, or repetitive behaviours.

Behaviour problems in captive birds can be very distressing and difficult to treat, making early intervention a must to maximise the chances of recovery. If your bird is acting out of character and you are worried, your first port of call should be your veterinary surgeon (or an avian vet) to rule out a possible medical cause, then contact us for advice.
