The Vision

The OABC is seeking donated land and commercial and private sponsorship to build a canine rehabilitation centre

March 2009

The oABC is seeking the donation or bequeath of around five acres of land, as well as commercial and private sponsorship in view to build a canine rehabilitation centre, incorporating a separate income-generating independent dog training school. While also acting as a small-scale rescue and rehoming centre, the main aim will be to provide a safe space to treat some of the more problematic behaviours that cannot be fully resolved in the home environment of our clients. It will also provide a comfortable permanent home to a small resident group of rescued dogs who for various reasons cannot be rehomed. The centre will also aim to facilitate some sound research into aspects of rehabilitation within a pack environment, specifically with regards to separation anxiety, phobias and some types of aggression.

Essentially, we hope to play our part in helping to reduce the number of dogs needlessly destroyed each year.

The planned canine rehabilitation centre is a ground-breaking project and will be the first of its kind to be overseen and managed by a qualified animal behaviourist in this country. The oABC strongly feels that a centre of this kind is desperately needed and that this is a way forward for canine welfare.

Information for potential sponsors

A fundraising non-profit organisation to raise funds towards the cost of building the canine rehabilitation centre is currently being set up. Business plans for the rehabilitation centre and the dog training school will be available shortly.

More details to follow very soon...
