About oABC

Muriel and Selkie
Dr Muriel Brasseur (BSc Hons, PhD) is a zoologist and experienced animal behaviourist. Muriel established the OABC in West Oxfordshire in 2007 after several years in Australia where she ran a successful behaviour practice while providing free advice and support to rescue groups, animal shelters, and foster carers. In particular, she has been extensively involved in the behavioural aspect of rehabilitating ex-racing greyhounds from the track to a home environment.

selkieOriginally a veterinary nurse, Muriel has been around dogs and cats for a very long time and as a zoologist has studied the behaviour of many species from wolves, primates, to dolphins and whales. This has given her the insight to understand the differences in behaviour and communication between species, specifically those between humans and their companion animals. Differences which can result in behavioural issues in pets and frustration in their owners.

Muriel is based near Witney and is owned by a beautiful lurcher girl called Selkie. Her long-term plan is to find land and premises for the OABC in Oxfordshire and set up an associated non-profit organisation to raise funds towards a canine rehabilitation centre where severe behavioural problems can be safely addressed (see Vision).
